Hi and Welcome to our first newsletter for 2017.
We hope you all had a nice break and a great Christmas. We look forward to another great year with lots of new and exciting activities. For the new families who have joined the school and OOSH we hope you and your children had a great start to big school.
This newsletter is just an introduction to what we offer at POOSH.
Parent Management Committee
Our centre is a non for profit organisation and is run by a Parent Management Committee. This consists of parents of the school which their child/ren attend OOSH.
At POOSH we have 16 Educators and most of them were working with us last year. There are some new faces who have joined our POOSH team for 2017 and they are Ryan, Victoria & Georgia.
At POOSH cooking is very popular with all children and this term cooking will be on a different day each week, this gives all children the opportunity to participate. We may also be doing cooking on some mornings as the children who don’t attend afternoons have asked if they could cook in the morning.
Science & Craft
The children will be involved in different craft activities such as collage, painting and drawing. This term the year six children may be asked to take on a leadership role of the science experiments along with the assistance of the educators. Science was very popular last year and hopefully it will be as popular this year.
We will be doing different sports activities with the children such as cricket, soccer, netball, touch football, Oz-tag and many others to involve all children. Some children just like to play on the equipment or do quiet activities inside. We will try to cater for all children and hope that their experience at OOSH is a great one.
Last year in term 4 the children got to participate in some dance classes. The class included fitness, stretching, hip hop and much more. The lessons run from 3:45pm till 5pm and is split into two groups, K-2 and 3-6.
These lessons were very popular which has made me reintroduce these lessons beginning this week. They will be held in the hall on Wednesday afternoons.
We have a compost bin in our garden that the children are helping the educators by putting in our food scraps from afternoon tea. We will be adding some new herbs and veg’s to our garden so we will be able to use these in our meals that we serve to the children.
Always excited and interested to receive your ideas into our suggestions box which is located at the front desk. Please feel free to add your suggestions.
I will be looking at some entertainers and sports programs for the children to be involved with this term at POOSH. This means that these incursions will take place at POOSH.
Breakfast times at POOSH have changed due to the increased numbers attending in the mornings. Times are now from 7am – 8:15am. If you arrive after 8:15am your child will not be served. Please feel free to discuss this with me if you have any concerns.
This term our parent’s breakfast will be held on Tuesday the 4th April from 7am. Please feel free to join us for breakfast or a quick cuppa. For the new families that have joined POOSH we like to have a parent’s breakfast as a small get together at least once a term as this is a great opportunity for you all to get to know and meet the educators.
Fees at POOSH are done on a fortnightly basis. At the start of each year all families must pay an admin fee of $55. This is per family not per child. This fee will be deducted from your accounts on the 27th February which will be with the next fee run. For the new families who have already paid this it will not be deducted again. Our fee schedule is located on the notice board, next to the sign in bench. If you would like a copy please feel free to ask and I can email you a copy.
I have been asked by the school to remind POOSH families that there is NO parking on school grounds, this includes the staff carpark. When dropping off or picking up your child/children please park either at the back of the school (Parry Street) or at the front (Morrison Road).
Our hours of operation are,
7.00 am – 8.45 am
3:15 pm – 6.00 pm
Just a reminder to all families that we close at 6pm so if all children could be collected by this time. If you are running late or are having difficulties in picking up your child/children please contact the centre on 9807 3954.
